They do this by preventing LDL cholesterol oxidation and reducing damage of both the bloodstream and artery walls. Additionally, the flavonoids in black tea can help decrease the risk of coronary heart disease. An average of 200 milligrams of flavonoids is contained in a single cup of black tea. Black tea also prevents cancer by inhibiting the formation and growth of malignant tumors. Also, the caffeine in black tea has been shown to improve mental focus and concentration by promoting blood flow in the brain.

Consuming black tea has a lot of health benefits and can be used as a daily caffeine boost. The tea is also low in calories. There are various ways to flavorize black tea and the most common methods are adding spices such as cinnamon, adding lemon juice and adding mint onto the cup of tea.
